Yellow is a difficult colour in leather. Too bright and it looks like a toy; too pale and it looks unfinished. Mustard is the answer: a warm, slightly muted yellow with brown underneath it, which is exactly what vegetable tanned leather wants to be.

Our mustard is the colour of the seed, not the jar: a deep ochre yellow that looks golden in sun and almost tan in shade. Mustard is at its best next to another warm colour. Orange and mustard, split down the middle, is our most-photographed pairing, on the Cardholder, Slim Wallet and Zip Wallet. Khaki and mustard, on the MacBook Sleeve, is the quieter version.
How the leather ages
Mustard ages beautifully, because it is already most of the way to the colour vegetable tanned leather wants to become. Over the first year it deepens towards a warm ochre with a sheen where it is handled, and the places you touch most go a shade darker. Yellow follows the same path from a brighter start. Neither fades.
Every piece is cut from Italian vegetable tanned leather from the Tempesti tannery in Tuscany, then stitched and finished by hand in a single atelier near Braga, in the north of Portugal. The edges are painted by hand, the logo is stamped in gold, and every wallet arrives in a presentation box. We design everything in Brussels.
