Violet is the colour we added because people kept asking for something nobody else makes. It is a deep purple with a hint of blue in it: rich in daylight, almost black in the evening, and never once mistaken for anyone else's wallet.
It comes on five pieces, from the Keychain to the Zip Wallet, all in the same Italian vegetable tanned leather. Here is what it looks like, how it ages, and which piece to start with.
Every purple piece in one place
Five pieces, one per model: Keychain, Card Sleeve, Cardholder, Slim Wallet and Zip Wallet. All in violet.
The Card Sleeve and the Keychain
The two small ones. The Card Sleeve is the thinnest piece we make, a single sleeve for a few cards and a folded note, and in violet at €55 it is the easiest way to try the colour. The Keychain, €25, matches it, or matches any of the wallets below.
The Cardholder
The Cardholder in violet is a traditional shape, 100 by 70 mm, with two card slots in front, one behind and a centre section for folded notes, in a colour that is anything but traditional. It is unisex and it is €75, and it is the purple piece we would wrap as a gift.
The Slim Wallet and the Zip Wallet
For a full wallet, the Slim Wallet puts six card slots and a note compartment in a front-pocket shape, and the Zip Wallet adds room for coins behind a three-sided zip. Both are €110 and both arrive in a presentation box.
How the leather ages
Violet is one of the colours that changes least, because it is already dark. What it gains is depth: a soft sheen on the flat panels within a few months, slightly darker edges and folds, and a leather that relaxes to the shape of what you carry. In low light it reads as near-black; in daylight the purple comes back.
Every piece is cut from Italian vegetable tanned leather from the Tempesti tannery in Tuscany, then stitched and finished by hand in a single atelier near Braga, in the north of Portugal. The edges are painted by hand, the logo is stamped in gold, and every wallet arrives in a presentation box. We design everything in Brussels.
Who violet is for
If you wear black and want one thing that is not. Violet reads as black until the light hits it. The Slim Wallet is the one.
If you want to try the colour. The Card Sleeve at €55, or the Keychain at €25.
If it is a gift. The Cardholder. Unisex, boxed, and a colour the person will not already have.

Frequently asked questions
What shade of purple is violet leather?
A deep purple with a hint of blue. It looks rich in daylight and close to black in low light. It is dyed through Italian vegetable tanned leather from the Tempesti tannery in Tuscany.
Does purple leather fade?
No. Violet vegetable tanned leather changes less than paler colours because it is already dark. It gains a soft sheen and slightly darker edges with use, and the colour stays in the hide.
Which Escuyer wallets come in purple?
Five pieces: the Card Sleeve (€55), Cardholder (€75), Slim Wallet (€110), Zip Wallet (€110) and Keychain (€25). All are made by hand in Portugal.
Is a purple wallet suitable for a man?
Yes. Violet is dark enough to read as near-black in most light, and the Slim Wallet and Card Sleeve shapes are the same ones we sell in black. It is a colour choice, not a gendered one.
What is the cheapest way to try violet leather?
The Keychain at €25, or the Card Sleeve at €55, which is the thinnest wallet we make and holds a few cards and a folded note.
Escuyer. Considered design, made to last.
